yes, i know, i know. i haven’t been on tumblr in a while. so much so that i missed this post from my first friend in middle school, kawehi.
she and i met in mr. cooper’s social studies class (red team!), and i introduced her to a couple of my friends (who would turn out to become her best friends). even though we’re not the best of friends, we share a lot in common (love of adventure, stubbornness, no-frills attitude), and we met up (all by the stroke of chance and facebook) while she was touring in nyc last month. we had a blast, and i’d like to thank paul and brian for putting up with us as we talked our way through 10 years of life in a couple short hours.
she’ll be back in the city next week, and i’m excited to see her perform (hopefully!) and visit alewife queens.
After some well needed two days of rest, I picked up a bagel and coffee and headed for Central Park - the weather was lovely and I intended on soaking in as much of New York as I could. This was, after all, to be my last night in NY. After a stroll in the park, we walked all the way from the park…

wow. i’ve been in new york for three weeks (+/- a few days for a trip to boston). last time i posted, i was six days out from the move. now, i’m mostly unpacked except for my collection of non-fiction books, and some odds and ends. i’ll post pictures soon.
i really like the city. much bigger than boston, many more people (people-watching is fantastic!), more bars, restaurants, parks, and the like, and more things to do. kid cudi is performing in williamsburg tomorrow night, and i’m tempted to check it out, but it’s not free ($62/ticket). i will probably end up at trivia instead. next time, kid cudi, next time. : )
i’m going to sum up the last three weeks in a list only because the recap would take forever to write. and, this list is order of how i remembered what i did. again, i’m really good at being busy:
i think i got everything. and it’s been TONS of fun. for the first time in a really long time, i’m not crazy-busy, and i have free time. i will have a summer, and i’m excited. i will get in shape, i will have fun, i will relax, and i will be productive. hooray.
again, pictures to come. for now, just know that summer in new york city is effing awesome.
-me : )
and movers in JP and Astoria to help me load and unload my stuff. this is actually happening: i am moving to nyc. in response to this realization, i currently snack on pepperoni, pita chips, and hummus. i think i ate too much pepperoni.
six days until i move. with that said, i’m really fortunate to have my room in the apartment for the rest of the summer. there is NO way i could sort through and pack up 10 years’ worth of stuff in the time that remains. i have decided on the things i will take with me in this first trip: bed, desk, office chair, books, clothes, music, and tv. i’ll be too busy to need anything else, and it will jumpstart the process of sorting, donating, and trashing that needs to be done.
overwhelmed describes my current state. of course, i’m the champion procrastinator and have left cleaning and packing to the last few days (not to mention a party or two in between), so i really shouldn’t be surprised. and, as i just, literally, told a friend, “everything will work itself out. just take one step at a time.” so, all i can do is take life one step at a time, and deal with it as it comes. i am excited to do laundry, clean and organize my room, and pack up stuff for the first move. that will happen tomorrow.
for today, i’m going to enjoy the rest of the afternoon, and revel in the fact that i am moving to nyc next week! : )
i’ve been away from tumblr for a few months, and it’s been sad. work, grad school, internship, and college ultimate responsibilities filled my plate for the first half of 2011.
now that grad school is done (hooray!) and my internship is at its end (happy and sad), it’s time to dive back into tumblr. my friend and colleague, alicia, suggested that i start a blog to document my upcoming adventure. since i already use tumblr, it seems like the best fit. so, alicia, stay tuned for the updates!
in short - i am moving to the big apple (long island city to be exact) next month. i will be helping two friends open a bar/restaurant, and will manage the back-of-house stuff. i’m pumped: the space is awesome, the view of the city is breathtaking, and there’s so much to do! our goal is to open sometime this summer, and i plan to use this space to document the new adventure.
before i get to new york, there’s lots to do: secure an apartment in nyc, close up shop in boston, sift through and pack up 10 years of stuff, and bid adieu to friends and colleagues. it’s going to be a crazy summer! : )
